      Solid replacement part

I really like the countersunk holes and hardware. Solid feel to the part. Already have the engine apart so the install was easy. Don’t forget to lock tite check stews to insure they stay put as required.

      Mr. Pain

My previous set of copper gaskets where great and I figured after 10 yrs they probably needed to be replaced. They didn't have the convenient ends like these so I had to remove all the bolts. I've got BBK shorty headers with the supplied 12 point bolts. I wish I would have read some tricks to installing these gaskets before I tore my fingers up on those rusted knife edges of those header bolts. Well, for one.....the BBK 12 point bolts are short as hell and there's no room at all to slide the gasket in between the head and the header. So you'll have to use either the factory bolts for the ends or at least a bolt longer than the BBK ones. START WITH THE HEADER BOLT CLOSEST TO THE FIREWALL FIRST. You'll need a jack under the h-pipe to get it lined up close as you can. Use a punch or something that'll fit inside the bolt hole to help move the header around so that you can get a couple threads inside the head. Then start the header bolt at the other end, use jack, with a punch again to get it lined up to get a couple threads started. Once you've got the two end bolts threaded in you can slide the gasket in, make sure you have the gasket flipped the correct way, or it will not seal up. Not sure how these fit with other headers, but with my BBK shortys it takes a few minutes to heat up and completely seal up exhaust leaks. After a few drive arounds go back and tighten the bolts back up. Some bolts I could only get a closed end wrench on so to tighten them up real tight, I would use another closed end wrench as leverage to get a good turn on the bolt. I tried using longer bolts to start the ends and then go back and use my short BBK bolts but that didn't work. It would drop out of alignment again and would not line back up at all. So whatever bolts you use on the ends to start with is what you'll finish with. Hope this helps, but after all is done I'm pleased with the copper gaskets. Wished they fit my BBK shortys a little better but like I said, after they heat up no exhaust leaks. If you're not mechanically inclined I would advise on having someone to help or let someone do it for you. If I'd known about the bolt lengths and which end to start first I could have finished it in a couple hours.
