Good but.....

It tightens up around the hinge but just doesn’t seem secure enough.

Installation is simple if you read the instructions for your vehicle. Provides more security than a hose clamp alone. I recommend a second matching key in case you lose one. Be sure to register your lock with McGard.

Does the trick

Quick Simple no brainier install clean look in Texas concerned how the plastic holds up. But should work fine As a theft deterrent as intended

Good enough to do the job

I like the lock, it does what I expected. I wish the directions were a little clearer. On my truck I don't get to us the plastic to keep the band from scratching the paint. Not happy about that..

It hasn't been stolen since

It was simple to install and took about 5 minutes. Since I installed it, the tailgate has been stolen. So far it is working.

great product

I use my truck for everyday activities and I have had an attempted tail gate robbery. Now I have piece of mind knowing I'm well protected when leaving my truck unattended. Great Way To Save Your Gate

If your like me and dont like to lock your tailgate or you tailgate doesnt have to option to lock, this is a great way to save your gate from the possibility of being stolen. Easy and affordable way to protect your tailgate and very easy to install. Would highly reccommend to anyone!

McGard Tailgate Lock

Well, it does what it's supposed to do...thats about it. It's actually a very cheaply made product...seems all it consists of is a band clamp covered in plastic that uses a special bit instead of a flathead screwdriver to tighten. If I would have known this before I would have just spend the $1.50 on a band clamp, doubt someone who is wanting to steal my tailgate is carrying a screwdriver on them.
